INSIDE THIS BUSINESS GROUP:

The Memory Solutions Lab (MSL) mission is to develop innovative open system architectures and solutions that transform the performance of semiconductor memory in SSDs, mobile devices and data centers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research Data Center storage requirements, bottlenecks and pain points, especially data movement, compute offload and acceleration
  • Propose SSD architectures, solutions, and features to address Data Center storage requirements
  • Research next generation storage (SSD) controller architectures, especially data movement, compute offload and acceleration
  • Provide architectural guidance, for next generation SSD architectures and products
  • Collaborate with Samsung internal teams such as product planning, marketing, and product development to formulate Samsung standards and ecosystem development strategy
  • Work with other hardware/software/firmware architects to develop one-of-a-kind innovative prototypes and contribute to feasibility studies and solution development

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • BS with 8+ years, MS with 6+ years or PhD with 5+ years of experience in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Sound foundation in Computer Architecture including multi-core SMP/Parallel concepts
  • Embedded Linux Kernel/Driver/User Space development experience
  • System solutions that utilize hardware acceleration (FPGA, ASIC, DSPs, GPUs)
  • Hardware Acceleration software stack programming model (OpenCL/Cuda) experience
  • Bus/Communication Protocols(NVMe, PCIe, Ethernet, TCP, UDP) experience
  • Good understanding of storage technologies and familiarity with SSD Controller architectures
  • Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to meet aggressive project deadlines in a team environment
  • Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams, including coordinating across organizational boundaries and geographies.

  • System C Transaction-level Modeling
  • Lab debug using ICE debuggers and/or PCI protocol analyzers on hardware platforms
  • FPGA HLS/OpenCL Development(Altera, Xilinx)
